I love to teach and I love to travel!
Hello,
I am excited that you are visiting my website to learn a little more about me, my teaching philosophy, and my love of learning and travel.
I think it was my parents who influenced my love of traveling. I have memories of the family vacation, driving across the country to visit caves, parks, famous bridges and dams and stopping at all the road side informational stops in-between. My dad would quiz us on the important facts of the places we visited and made sure we had lots of historical information to relay back to grandpa and grandma. It was those trips that brought the books and learning alive when I went to school.
What these trips taught me was that so much learning takes place through experience. While I can never teach my students how to build the Brooklyn Bridge, I can sure show them it's importance and majesty in it's place in history by taking them there and exploring it. Who knew a bridge could be so cool? How better to teach the sacrifice of war than to take them to the beaches of Normandy, have them climb the cliffs and walk through the pristine rows of headstones of the American cemetary on top of Omaha Beach. These are images and connections that will last a life time in the lives of every person who experiences them. These are the connections that make learning and the lessons in school last and connect our young adults to the real world. My goal is to always drop the walls of my classroom and connect my students to history, culture, and the politics of the world to hopefully make this world a little bit better.
Enjoy looking at pictures from past adventures and experiences. Please remember this is an ongoing project. This will always be a site of growth and change and will never be complete.
